Affordable Housing

Unfortunately, so many of our neighbors are struggling to pay rent or are forced to live in unsafe conditions. Crowded housing situations and unaffordable property taxes have become the nightmare of many families in southern Brooklyn. Iwen will fight to build back an understanding that true security for families is to provide a home, not just a temporary shelter to sleep in. 

• Build more government supported affordable housing that provides true affordable options to those in need.

• Provide housing attorneys for immigrant tenants and landlords so that they can understand their rights 

• Create a pathway to legalize basement apartments so that they are safe and up to code, preventing tragedies such as what happened during Hurricane Ida. 

• Fix the city's broken property tax system and provide relief immediately to those paying more than their fair share.
