Iwen Chu Announced State Senate Campaign and Received Endorsement from elected officials and Asian-American Community Leaders

Brooklyn, NY – Community leader and activist Iwen Chu announced her campaign for New York State Senate District 27 on Feb. 12 at the Stars & Stripes Democratic Club in Dyker Heights. Iwen received endorsements from many elected officials who are looking forward to her leadership in Albany. 

“I’m running for New York State Senate to lift up the voices of my community and represent the communities I love in Albany,” said Iwen Chu. “I want to fight for an equitable, safe and prosperous community that values everyone and respects the diversity that makes our state so great.”

Iwen announced her campaign and immediately received endorsements from Congressman Jerry Nadler, State Senator John Liu, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblyman Peter Abbate, Assemblyman Steve Cymbrowitz, Assemblyman Ron Kim, Ron Kim and Assemblyman Steve Cymbrowitz, Councilman Justin Brannan, District Leaders Nancy Tong, Tori Kelly, Joseph Bova. and Julio Pena She also welcomed the support from Asian-American Community Leaders.

“I have found myself very fortunate having Iwen Chu on my staff for the last 10 years. Iwen’s vast and varied experiences, along with the many years she and I have worked side by side, make Iwen the clear choice for NYS Senate District 27.  Most importantly, it’s Iwen’s dedication and drive to serve this community that makes her the most deserving candidate. As a member of my office she has always helped to flawlessly bridge the cultural gap in my district. State Senate District 27 is a new district, including Windsor Terrace, Sunset Park, Kensington, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Gravesend and Borough Park, and is nearly 50% Asian-American.
